Current Production – NATIVITY December 2025

We are delighted that the Bishop of Croydon, the Rt Rev’d Dr Rosemarie Mallett, has agreed to become our patron. Bishop Rosemarie said, “ I am pleased to be the Patron of Gatton Community Theatre’s 25th Anniversary production of Nativity and to support this group of skilled and dedicated performers in their endeavours to bring the Christian story to life for today’s audience.” Since taking office, Bishop Rosemarie has supported our productions at Gatton Park and we look forward to seeing her once again at All Saints Church for Nativity.

Gatton Community Theatre is looking for adults and young people aged over 10 who would like to take part in its next production – Nativity. All levels of acting experience are welcomed – both experienced actors and those who’d maybe like to perform for the first time  – plus backstage helpers, musicians, singers – are all welcome.  Written for GCT in 2001, we are delighted to be performing this once again in our 25th anniversary year.

Nativity will be staged ‘in the round’ inside All Saint’s Church, South Merstham during the first two weeks of December 2025. Especially written with adult audiences in mind and through both storytelling and acting, the play explores some of the experiences of the characters and includes very human versions of the accounts with which most of us are so familiar.  It also creates parts of the story for which there is no source, Mary and Joseph’s first meeting, for example, or their wedding.    This different presentation will hopefully help audiences to more fully understand the events surrounding the birth of Jesus and the effects that it had upon those present, and its relevance to us today.

If you would like to take part or just find out more, then come along to All Saints, Battlebridge Lane, South Merstham, RH1 3LH on Saturday 12th and/or Sunday 20th July at 2.00pm. There are no membership or production fees to take part.
